भक्तिवर्द्धिनी

यथा भक्तिः प्रवृद्धा स्यात्तथोपायो निरूप्यते।
बीजभावे दृढ़े तु स्यात्यागाच्छवण कीर्त्तनात्‌॥१॥
बीजदाढ्‌र्य प्रकारस्तु गृहे स्थित्वा स्वधर्मतः।
अव्यावृत्तो भजेत्कृष्णं पूजया श्रवणादिभिः॥२॥
व्यावृतोsपि हरौ चित्तं श्रवणादौ यतेत्सदा।
ततः प्रेम तथाssसक्तिर्व्यसनं च यदा भवेत्‌॥३॥
बीजं तदुच्यते शास्त्रे दृढ़ं यन्नपि नश्यति।
स्नेहाद्रागविनाशः स्यादासत्तया स्याद्‌गृहारुचिः॥४॥
गृहस्थानां बाधकत्वमनात्मत्वं च भासते।
यदा स्याद्वयसनं कृष्णे कृतार्थः स्यात्तदैव हि॥५॥
ताद्यशस्यापि सततं गृहस्थानं विनाशकम्‌।
त्यागं कृत्वा यतेद्यस्तु तदर्थार्थैकमनसः॥६॥
लभेत सुदृढ़ां भक्तिं सर्वतोप्यधिकां पराम्‌।
त्यागे बाधकभूयस्त्वं दुःसंसएगात्तथान्नतः॥७॥
अतस्थेयं हरिस्थाने तदीयैः सह तत्परेः।
अदूरे विप्रकर्षे वा यथा चित्तं न दुष्यति ॥८॥
सेवायां वा कथायां वा यस्याssसक्तिर्दृढ़ा भवेत।
यावज्जीवं तस्य नाशो न क्वापीति मे मतिः॥९॥
बाधसंभावनायं तु नैकान्ते वास इष्यते।
हरिस्तु सर्वतो रक्षां करिष्यति न संशयः॥१०॥
इत्येवं भगवच्छास्त्रं गूढतत्वं निरूपितम्‌।
य एतत्‌समधीयेत तस्यापि स्याद्‌ दृढ़ा रतिः॥११॥
॥इति श्रीवल्लभाचार्यविरचित भक्तिवर्द्धिनी सम्पूर्णा॥

भावानुवाद- Translation

जिस प्रकार से भक्ति वृद्धि को प्राप्त होती है अब उस विधि का निरूपण किया जाता है - भक्ति का आधार त्याग, श्रवण और कीर्तन से दृढ़ होता है॥१॥   

Now, the way devotion gets enhanced is narrated. The seed of devotion takes firm roots through renunciation and by listening and singing the divine glory of God.॥1॥

भक्ति को मूल से दृढ़ करने के लिए धर्मानुसार अपने घर में रहते हुए ही एकाग्र चित्त से भगवान श्रीकृष्ण का पूजा, श्रवण आदि विधियों से भजन करना चाहिए॥२॥

To strengthen the devotion from its roots, one should continue doing worship and listening to God's glories single-mindedly while living the life of a householder.॥2॥

सांसारिक आकर्षण शेष रहते हुए भी चित्त को श्रीहरि के श्रवण-स्मरण में तब तक प्रयत्नपूर्वक लगाना चाहिए जब तक कि उनमें क्रमशः प्रेम, आसक्ति और व्यसन की प्राप्ति न हो जाये॥३॥

Till the time worldly attractions are remaining, one should constantly strive to devote his mind in listening, singing and remembering the glory of God. This will respectively lead to love, attachment and addiction for Him.॥3॥

शास्त्र के अनुसार भक्ति के आधार को तब दृढ़ कहा जाता है जब प्रभु-प्रेम से सांसारिक आकर्षणों का नाश हो जाता है, अनासक्ति हो जाती है और घर का मोह नहीं रहता है॥४॥

Scriptures call the devotion firm when attachment to this world is destroyed, one becomes indifferent and is no longer interested in his home.॥4॥

जब घर एक रूकावट और स्वयं से अलग लगने लगता है और श्रीकृष्ण-भक्ति ही भक्त का व्यसन हो जाता है, तब वह कृतार्थ हो जाता है॥५॥

When one gets addicted to Shri Krishna, home starts appearing as an obstacle and different from Self. At this stage, a devotee is fulfilled.॥5॥

ऐसी भक्ति होने पर भी सदा घर में निवास करना, भक्ति के विकास में बाधा है, अतः घर का त्याग करके एकाग्र मन से भक्ति की वृद्धि के लिए प्रयत्न करना चाहिए॥६॥

Even after getting this type of devotion in Shri Krishna, continual stay at come is an impediment to further progress of devotion. So one should leave home and strive for increasing his devotion even further with fixed mind.॥6॥

इस प्रकार प्रयत्न करने से सर्वाधिक महत्त्वपूर्ण अविचल परा-भक्ति प्राप्त हो जाती है। इस (गृह)त्याग में दुर्जनों का साथ और अन्न प्रमुख बाधाएँ हैं॥७॥

On trying like above, one gets divine devotion for Lord which is simply beyond everything. In this life of renunciation bad company and improper food are two main obstacles.॥7॥

अतः श्रीहरि के मंदिर के समीप उनके भजन में लगे हुए भक्तों के साथ निवास करना चाहिए। चाहे पास रहें अथवा दूर पर इस प्रकार रहना चाहिए कि मन दूषित न हो॥८॥

Hence one should reside near a temple of Lord with the devotees singing his praise. Whether you stay near or far, make sure your mind should not get infected with unholy thoughts.॥8॥

सेवा से अथवा श्रवण से जिस प्रकार से भी श्रीकृष्ण-प्रेम में प्रगाढ़ता बढ़े, उसको जीवन शेष रहते हुए किसी भी प्रकार से छोड़ना नहीं चाहिए; ऐसा मेरा(श्रीवल्लभाचार्य का) विचार है॥९॥

One should constantly strive to strengthen his devotion for Lord Krishna either through his service or through listening about him. Shri Vallabhacharya believes that we should not stop these practices all our lives under any circumstances.॥9॥

बाधा की सम्भावना सोचकर अकेले रहने की इच्छा नहीं करनी चाहिए। श्रीहरि निश्चय ही सब प्रकार से रक्षा करेंगे इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है॥१०॥ 

One should not seek solitude due to fear of possible hindrances. Shri Hari definitely saves his devotees in all circumstances, undoubtedly.॥10॥

इस प्रकार भगवत शास्त्रों के गूढ़ तत्त्व का निरूपण किया गया जो इसका ध्यानपूर्वक मनन करता है उसकी भी भगवान में दृढ़ भक्ति हो जाती है॥११॥ 

Thus hidden secret of devotional scriptures is revealed. Whosoever deliberates on it intently, gets endowed with firm devotion for Shri Krishna.॥11॥
